Talented Residents Featured in PA Traveling Art Exhibition
At St. Anne’s, we are surrounded by residents who bring many skills and life experiences to our community. Two of our talented residents, Virginia Laudano and Elaine Baum, are featured in LeadingAge PA’s “Ageless Art and Timeless Treasures Exhibition”. This traveling art exhibition and gala showcases works by artists from retirement communities who positively impact the field of aging services in Pennsylvania. Of 112 submissions, Elaine and Virginia's were among the 49 accepted!
Virginia Laudano, who has been an artist since she was eight years old, exhibited a painting called “Peace” which beautifully depicted a serene beach shore line at sunset in the art showcase. A New Jersey native, she taught art in a Catholic high school for 40 years and inspired many students who won full scholarships to prestigious art schools throughout the country. She was honored to be a part of LeadingAge PA’s “Ageless Art and Timeless Treasures Exhibition”.
Elaine Baum is a talented quilter and spends countless hours surrounded by fabric, thread and batting. She put her gifted hands to work designing, cutting, stitching and backstitching her submission to LeadingAge PA's art exhibition. Her piece, entitled "Christmas Table Runner", features red, green and white fabric blocks on a uniquely shaped, one-of-a-kind quilt.
As featured artists in the "Ageless Art and Timeless Treasures Exhibition", Virginia and Elaine were in the spotlight at the LeadingAge PA's gala for the event in September 2024 and their artwork will travel with the show through 2025. At the conclusion of the tour, their pieces will move to LeadingAge PA's headquarters in Mechanicsburg, PA to permanently display how art, creativity and community enhance the journey of aging.
LeadingAge PA partnered with a documentary-making class at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA to create a student documentary about senior artists based around the “Ageless Art and Timeless Treasures Exhibition,” and they asked our resident, Virginia, to be a part of their production.
